Vow Renewal

A vow renewal allows you to reaffirm your original marriage vows and promises to one another, and is an opportunity for couples to recommit to their love.  Together, I can help you to design a ceremony that pays tribute to the years passed, and stand as a symbol of the years to come.  It will reflect a mature love, blessed with all the joys and challenges of your years together. A renewal of vows is a fun way to rejuvenate your marriage and to start the next chapter of your relationship.

Some call this ceremony a “Recommitment of Love” or a “Reaffirmation of Love” ceremony. Whatever you choose to call it, it is a most meaningful event for you, your children, family and close friends. This ceremony will give you an opportunity to reaffirm the tremendous love that has deepened with the passing of years, and stand as a symbol of looking forward to many more years together. Whether you’ve had 5, 10, or 50 years together, your love is worth celebrating.

There are many options when planning your ceremony. You can do something to reflect your wedding, or we can come up with something completely different, meaningful to who you are as a couple now.  There are no rules when it comes to a vow renewal.  The ceremony can be as creative or as simple as you want it to be: formal, or casual and fun.  Whatever you choose to celebrate the growth and depth of your relationship is what’s right for you.

A lot of my vow renewal clients chose to make their ceremonies a family affair, to pay tribute to what the couple has built together. Have your teenage children walk their parent down the aisle to flip the ceremony on its head.  Give every special person in your family a role to play: your daughters and sons as ‘bridesmaids’ and ‘best men’, and your grandchildren as ‘page boys’ or ‘flower girls’.  Let the cover of your invitation feature your grandchild’s drawing of Grandma and Grandpa. It will bring added meaning to your ceremony and provide an incredible memory for your kids.

Many couples like to add elements from their weddings, such as playing their wedding video, or dancing again to their first song. Some families create exhibits or displays honouring the couple. This could include photographs taken on their wedding day, a copy of their wedding license, a photo of their first home, family snapshots and scrapbooks, a photo montage of the couple and all their family members, their original guest book and wedding album, and a few sentimental items that have special meaning to them.
